Govt raises reward for price monopoly informers, paper says

The National Development and Reform Commission has raised the cash reward for those who provide information leading to the prosecution of price monopolistic practices to 10,000 yuan (US$1,646.09) for serious cases and 5,000 yuan for other offences, up from the existing 2,000 yuan, the People’s Daily reported Wednesday. Since 2001, the commission has been maintaining a reporting hotline with all incoming calls taken by officers personally and assured of utmost confidentiality. The regulator is also setting up a new price monitoring reporting hotline, the 12358 hotline, with better features for the public to report cases. The regulator will decide whether or not to pursue a reported case within seven working days, the report said.
