Taiwan raises 2014 GDP growth forecast to 2.82%, paper says

Taiwan now expects its gross domestic product (GDP) to expand by 2.82 percent this year, revising a previous forecast made in November for 2.59 percent growth, Liberty Times reported Wednesday, citing the island’s Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics. The statistics administration also said Tuesday that it believes export growth this year could be 3.3 percent, against an earlier forecast of 3.07 percent, the report said. Taiwan’s GDP grew 2.11 percent last year, weaker compared to economies such as South Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong, the report noted.
