BYD Co. Ltd. (01211.HK, 002594.CN) has entered into an agreement with Nanjing Public Transportation (Group) Co. Ltd. for supply of electric buses, the China Securities Journal reported Thursday. Under the deal, BYD will provide 650 K9 electric buses to the Nanjing firm by end-June, just in time before the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games open in August. BYD is said to have already shipped 50 such buses, with the remainder to be delivered soon. Meanwhile, 400 BYD electric taxis, under a joint-venture electric taxi company, will hit Nanjing’s streets gradually. Earlier this month, six cities, including Nanjing, in Jiangsu province received approval to introduce 18,085 new energy cars between 2013 and 2015, the report noted.
