Govt moves to stem falling hog prices, Xinhua says

The government will closely monitor stockpiles to prevent hog prices from falling too steeply, the official Xinhua news agency reported Wednesday, citing the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). Oversupply has driven down hog prices since mid-December, with the average price down 1.1 percent in February after slipping 9.1 percent in January, the report said. The NDRC expects prices to continue to face downward pressure in the next few months, a low season for hog sales, the report said.
