Migrant worker wages up 13.9%, Xinhua says

China’s 166 million migrant workers earned an average of 2,609 yuan (US$429) per month in 2013, up 13.9 percent, the official Xinhua news agency reported Thursday, citing the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security. The country had 269 million farmers working in non-agricultural sectors by the end of last year, up 2.4 percent year on year, the report said. Migrant workers are defined as those who have worked away from home for more than six months.
