Smartphone maker Xiaomi Inc. aims to expand monthly production capacity to 4 million units over the next few months and 6 million by December through better supply chain management and more investment, Apple Daily reported Friday, citing company co-founder and president Lin Bin. Lin said Thursday that Xiaomi will hold more talks with Taiwanese component suppliers in early March. It will also set up a flagship store in Taipei in the second half of the year and launch 4G products. According to data from research firm IDC, Xiaomi shipped about 18.7 million smartphones last year and has a target of 40 million this year. Taiwanese competitor High Technology Computer Corp. (HTC) shipped 21.9 million units in 2013 and aims for 20 million this year, the report said.
