Sales of 3D televisions were down by a third among some of China’s major TV makers in January as consumer interest flickered due to a lack of 3D programming and the inconvenience of 3D glasses, National Business Daily reported Monday, citing data from market research firm NPD DisplaySearch. TCL Corp. (000100.CN) sold 317,500 3D TVs in the month, down 32.96 percent year on year, compared with 363 percent growth at the same time in 2013. Skyworth Digital Holdings Co. Ltd. (00751.HK) sold 421,100 units, down 35.8 percent, compared with 55.08 percent growth a year earlier. Global shipments of 3D TVs reached 45.25 million units in 2013 to be worth US$405.5 billion, according to the researcher.
