Europeans still wary of China deals, paper says

Europeans remain nervous about Chinese buyers taking over their companies, with many European firms preferring to be bought out by another European or US company, China Daily reported Monday, citing Davide Cucino, president of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China. Cucino, who heads China operations for Italian engineering conglomerate Finmecccanica Group, said it is wrong to assume that only the United States is wary about Chinese investment. “You have the unions, government leaders and the consensus of public opinion that are reluctant to see … the positive side of these investments [from China],” he was quoted as saying.
