Businesswoman ousted from CPPCC on CNPC links, paper says

Harbin Xiangying Group chairwoman Liu Yingxia was removed as delegate to the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) on Feb. 20 with no reasons given, although media reports suggested that her sacking was related to her connection with Jiang Jiemin, former chairman of China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) and head of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, who is under investigation on corruption charges, the 21st Century Business Herald reported Tuesday. The CPPCC made the decision after investigation showed that CNPC injected 1 billion yuan (US$163.63 million) into a fund operated by Liu’s company back in 2012, while Jiang was still in charge of the oil giant, the newspaper said, citing other media reports.
