Anti-graft probers from the Communist Party of China’s discipline watchdog have uncovered irregularities at China Three Gorges Corporation (CTGC), which runs the world’s largest hydropower project, during a two-month inspection, Xinhua news agency reported Monday. These include officials abusing their power in the bidding and awarding of projects, seizure of multiple apartments, and extravagant official receptions, the report said. The investigation also revealed a lack of transparency in the corporation’s decision-making, as well as communication inefficiencies among officials holding important posts. As an interim measure, CTGC officials will move to smaller offices and use cheaper cars. The company also promised to further reduce its expenditures on overseas trips and receptions, the report said.
