Qianhai eyes QDII2 trial scheme launch by year-end, paper says

Shenzhen’s Qianhai experimental financial zone aims to launch by year-end a trial qualified domestic individual investor (QDII2) program, which allows individual mainland investors to directly invest in overseas capital markets, China Business News reported Tuesday, citing reform tasks the local government has set for the zone this year. Qianhai is also expected to secure regulatory approval to trial a program that allows Hong Kong and Macau residents working and living in the mainland to invest directly in A shares, a person with knowledge of the matter was quoted as saying. The China Securities Regulatory Commission is scheduled to conduct an on-site evaluation of the zone’s policies from Tuesday, the report said.
