China plans anti-Japanese war holiday, Xinhua says

China could add two new national days to the calendar — one to mark the war against Japan and the other to commemorate the Nanjing Massacre, Xinhua reported Tuesday. Sept. 3 is expected to be set aside to mark victory in the anti-Japanese war and Dec. 13 as a memorial day for the massacre victims, the report said. The proposals will to be reviewed by the National People’s Congress’ Standing Committee before it wraps up its bi-monthly meeting on Thursday.
