Wind power capacity to grow 16.6% this year, paper says

China’s wind power industry may record a 16.6 percent increase in installed capacity this year to more than 90 million kilowatts, from 77.16 million kilowatts in 2013, Shanghai Securities News reported Wednesday, citing data from the National Energy Administration. Meanwhile, wind power supply is estimated to rise to 175 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) from 134.9 billion last year. The administration on Tuesday pledged to aggressively push for the development of offshore wind power in 2014, the report said.
