Work starts on China-Russia rail bridge, Xinhua says

Construction started Wednesday on the first railway bridge to span China’s border with Russia over the Heilong River, known as the Amur in Russia, according to Xinhua. The project took five years to negotiate and will connect Tongjiang Port in Heilongjiang Province with Nizhneleninskoye across the border. It will have an annual cargo transport capacity of 21 million tonnes, the report said.
