Antitrust body targets telcos, transport, paper says

China’s industry and commerce authority will launch more antitrust investigations this year after mounting a record number in 2013, China Daily reported Thursday, citing administration deputy head Sun Hongzhi. Sun said the State Administration for Industry and Commerce and its local bureaus will target monopolies that have a big impact on markets, the economy and society. The administration will concentrate efforts on anti-competitive behavior by public enterprises in telecommunications, public transport, and water and power supplies, as well as bribery in education, construction and medicine, the report said.
