China reliance on imported oil at over 50%, paper says

China’s reliance on imported oil remains high, with imports currently making up for over 50 percent of the nation’s total consumption, the China Securities Journal cited the Ministry of Land and Resources as saying Thursday. In 2013, newly identified oil reserves totaled 1.084 billion tons, topping the one-billion ton mark for the seventh straight year, it said. During the year, China National Petroleum Corporation’s Changqing oilfield in Ordos reported identified reserves of over 100 million tons, the report said.
