PetroChina Sichuan head quits as NPC representative, paper says

Li Dongsheng {栗東生}, president of PetroChina Sichuan Petrochemical Co. Ltd. under China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC), has quit as a representative to the 12th National People’s Congress (NPC), the 21st Century Business Herald reported Tuesday, citing a statement issued by the Sichuan NPC Standing Committee which has accepted his resignation. According to several people with knowledge of the matter, Li has been under investigation even before the Lunar New Year holiday for alleged corruption. He is suspected of having colluded with a group of contractors to manipulate the bidding for a PetroChina refinery project worth 38 billion yuan (US$6.18 billion) in Pengzhou, Sichuan province, the report said.
