Beijing, Tianjin to trial integrated customs system, paper says

The customs departments of Beijing and Tianjin will trial a unified declaration mechanism for import and export goods from July 1 in a bid to smoothen trade between the two places, Beijing Daily reported Wednesday. Towards this end, the General Administration of Customs (GAC) has set up a facility at Wuqing district in Tianjin to offer training related to tariff, declaration, auditing and risk management to customs staff from both cities, the report said. Under the trial scheme, Beijing companies opting to import or export goods via Tianjin, or Tianjin companies hoping to conduct shipments via the Beijing airport can complete both the declaration and examination processes at a single location within the same day, according to the report.
