Chongqing mayor proposes free trade zone, paper says

Chongqing Mayor Huang Qifan has proposed the creation of a free trade zone in the city, the China Securities Journal reported Thursday. Speaking at a work meeting on Wednesday, Huang said he hopes the National Development and Reform Commission and other relevant agencies would support the plan to make Chongqing a hub that connects the planned Silk Road Economic Belt and the Yangtze River Economic Belt. The proposed zone will be based in the Xiyong comprehensive bonded area and Lianglu Cuntan bonded port area, covering an area of up to 40 square kilometers, the report said.
