Govt confident of 7.5% growth in foreign trade, report says

Commerce Minister Gao Hucheng {高虎城} voiced confidence that China will achieve its 7.5 percent growth target for foreign trade this year, government-backed China.com.cn reported Friday. Focus will be placed on adjusting the economic structure to achieve a more sustainable growth, the minister told a media briefing, adding that the government will further open up the economy. China may allow foreign investors to hold a higher percentage of shares in a company and engage in a wider range of businesses. The nation is also closely watching the negotiations for a Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement and is still assessing whether to join it, Gao was quoted as saying.
