Taiwan central bank chief backs RMB buys, paper says

Every foreign currency investment comes with risk but buying renminbi is more sensible than selling it in the wake of its recent depreciation, the Economic Daily News reported Friday, quoting Taiwan central bank governor Perng Fai-nan. Perng’s remarks Thursday were in response to legislators’ requests for his opinion on the currency’s shifts. He also said it is unlikely that Shanghai Chaori Solar Energy Science & Technology Co., Ltd.’s looming bond default will lead to a financial meltdown on the mainland, the report said.
