Shaanxi sets Silk Road Economic Belt plan, paper says

Shaanxi province is targeting education, culture and tourism in the first phase of the planned Silk Road Economic Belt, Shanghai Securities News reported Thursday, citing Fang Weifeng, director of the local government’s development and reform commission. These will be supported by related infrastructure as part of a wider effort to make Shaanxi a hub of international commerce and the Silk Road the starting point of an economic belt. Also, the provincial administration will speed up development of the Xi Xian New Area after it received approval from the State Council in January, the report said.
