Chinese consumers can return goods bought online within seven days at no cost, Beijing Times reported Friday. The new policy coincides with the March 15 launch of a consumer protection ordinance. It applies to e-commerce platforms such as Tmall.com, JD.com and Suning, as well as consumer-to-consumer websites such as Taobao.com. The policy does not apply to perishable goods with seal opened and audio and video products downloaded from the internet, as well as computer software, newspapers and periodicals, the report said. Nearly 15,000 Taobao.com sellers are offering a 15-day free return policy covering more than 3.86 million products, a company spokesman was quoted as saying.
