Central bank mulls rules for online finance, Sina says

Officials from the People’s Bank of China reportedly met representatives from Alibaba Group, Baidu, Inc. and Tencent Holdings Ltd. (00700.HK) in Beijing Monday for confidential talks on regulation of online financial products and services, news portal sina.com reported Wednesday. The central bank said it might introduce policy to regulate the new sector, and will continue dialogue with industry players. The proposed regulation will cover areas such as peer-to-peer business, settlement, crowd funding and online sales of financial products, the report said.
