China becomes world’s 4th biggest weapons exporter, report says

The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute has pointed out in a report that China has become the fourth largest weapons exporter in the world, China Daily said on Wednesday. The report on conventional weapons trade from 2009-2013 found that the US and Russia are still the top two arms suppliers, respectively accounting for 29 percent and 27 percent of the volume of conventional weapons export, the paper said. China’s export share grew to 6 percent, exceeding France’s 5 percent, helping the nation take the fourth spot behind Germany, which had 7 percent share, the report said.
