China’s US debt holdings up US$3.5 bln in Jan, report says

China’s holdings of US government bonds stood at US$1.2735 trillion at the end of January, up US$3.5 billion from the previous month, Xinhua news agency reported Wednesday, citing data released by the US Department of Treasury on Tuesday. China remains the world’s biggest holder of US debt, followed by Japan which has also upped its holdings from US$1.1825 trillion in January to US$1.2014 trillion in February, the report said.
