China Mobile Ltd. (00941.HK) reported on Thursday a net profit of 121.69 billion yuan (US$19.58 billion) for 2013, down 5.87 percent compared to the previous year, even as turnover climbed 8.3 percent to 630.18 billion yuan. Revenue from wireless data traffic reached 108.2 billion yuan, up 58.6 percent from a year ago, contributing 18.3 percent to overall telecoms services revenue, the company said in a regulatory filing. Earnings before interest expenses and other finance costs, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) stood at 240.43 billion yuan, down 5.2 percent. Basic earnings per share stood at 6.05 yuan, down from 6.43 yuan in 2012. The company proposed final dividend of HK$1.615 per share. The drop in net profit was due to increased investment on network infrastructure in order to support the explosive growth in data traffic, the telecoms giant said.
