Taiwan, US to hold investment talks next month, paper says

The governments of Taiwan and the United States will hold an eighth round of talks over the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) in Washington D.C. next month, the Economic Daily News reported Thursday, citing unidentified sources. Taiwan vice minister of economic affairs Cho Shih-chao will head the island’s delegation, which also aims to persuade the U.S. to support Taiwan’s inclusion in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). Sources said the U.S. agreed to discuss Taiwan’s involvement in the TPP through the TIFA platform on the condition that the island respond to several issues of U.S. concern, the report said.
