ZTE times phone launch with Unicom 4G service start, paper says

ZTE Corp. (0763.HK, 000063.CN) has released a new sub-1,000 yuan (US$160.85) 4G handset to coincide with the official start Tuesday of 4G services by China United Network Communications Group Co. Ltd. (China Unicom) (00762.HK, 600050.CN), the China Securities Journal reported Thursday. ZTE expects to sell 5 million of the new handsets this year. ZTE president Shi Lirong said the phone is just the beginning of its long-term cooperation with China Unicom, ties that will focus more on apps and software, the report said.
