Canada still open to Chinese migrants, SCMP says

Canada remains open to Chinese investors seeking residency but under more stringent entry rules, the South China Morning Post reported Thursday, citing Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander. The amount needed to qualify for an investor visa will be doubled from the previous C$800,000 (US$711,620) under a new scheme to be launched this year. Canada scrapped its investor visa program last month, dumping 65,000 applications, about 45,500 of which by mainlanders who applied in Hong Kong.
