Growth in China power use slows in Jan-Feb, paper says

China consumed 824.3 billion kWh of electricity in the first two months of the year, a 4.5 percent increase from a year earlier, China Business News reported Friday, citing data from the National Energy Administration. The increase was one percentage point lower than that over the same period last year, a sign that economic growth slowed. Power plants had an average of 668 cumulative hours of operation during the two-month period, down 34 hours compared with the previous year, with lower usage of both hydropower and thermal power, the report said.
