China cuts price of solar equipment exports to EU, paper says

The European Union and a Chinese industry group overseen by the Ministry of Commerce have agreed to lower the minimum guaranteed price of solar power equipment imported from China to EU member countries to 0.53 per watt, down from the original 0.56 per watt, the Oriental Morning Post reported Monday. Chinese exports were not selling well at the higher price and a large slice of the 7 gigawatts of quotas issued by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products went unused. If the price cut goes through, Chinese exports should become more competitive, the report said.
