Henan firm to invest in SSJ-100 aircraft facility, paper says

A private company in Henan province is said to have signed a deal for purchase of Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ-100) passenger aircraft, China Business News reported Monday. Under the deal inked with Russia’s Sukhoi Company, the two parties also agreed to invest a combined 5 billion yuan (US$804 million) to set up an aircraft assembly line in Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan province, the report said. The facility is expected to be operational in 2018. The SSJ-100 is the first passenger plane from Sukhoi, which had traditionally been involved in production of military jets. The new model, which comes with 60, 75 or 95 seats, has passed the tests of the US Federal Aviation Administration, the report said.
