OHTA Production Co. Ltd., Japan’s third-largest games and amusement machines maker, will set up a facility in the Shanghai Free Trade Zone, the Oriental Morning Post reported Monday. The 600-700 square meter “experience center”, which is expected to be operational this July, is part of the FTZ administration’s initiatives to develop the country’s culture industry, the report said. E-Home Entertainment Development, a joint venture between Microsoft Corp. and BesTV New Media Co. Ltd. (600637.CN), had earlier moved into the Shanghai FTZ and is widely tipped to develop Microsoft’s games business in China. Another industry giant, Sony Corp., is also said to be planning to establish a presence in the FTZ. Since its launch in September 2013, the Shanghai FTZ has attracted 67 firms in the culture industry, the report said.
