At least 151 luxury homes priced at over 50 million yuan (US$8.08 million) each were sold in 2013, the New Express Daily reported Tuesday. Of these flats, 80 percent were sold in Beijing and Shanghai, while only six units were sold in Guangzhou. The number of luxury flats valued at over 10 million yuan each sold in Guangzhou has gone up nearly 28 times from 28 units in 2008 to 805 units last year. However, Guangzhou still lagged behind Beijing’s 3,012 units and Shanghai’s 3,406 units, with Shenzhen and Hangzhou ranking fourth and fifth in this bracket, the report said.
