Chinese tourist arrivals in South Korea totaled 326,000 in February, up 30.7 percent over the same month last year, Yonhap news agency reported Tuesday, citing data from the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute. The surge in visitor numbers was attributed mainly due to the Chinese Lunar New Year holiday. The growth in Chinese tourists was in contrast to a 12 percent drop — to 189,700 – in the number of Japanese visitors to South Korea last month, the report said. Overall foreign tourist arrivals in South Korea in February stood at 886,000, up 8.7 percent from a year ago, according to the report.
