China National Offshore Oil Company (CNOOC) said on Monday that it has discovered a mid-sized natural gas reserve in the Bohai Sea, Xinhua news agency reported. The new find is in south central Bohai with an average water depth of about 25 meters, it said. Tests showed that the gas output of the Bozhong 22-1 facility was around 14.2 million cubic feet per day, the energy giant was quoted as saying in a statement. “The discovery of Bozhong 22-1 demonstrates the good prospects of buried hills for future gas exploration of south slope in Bozhong Sag,” the company said.
