Airbus signs helicopter deal with China manufacturer, WSJ says

Airbus Group NV expects to take more than 50 percent of the estimated 50 billion euro (US$69 billion) Chinese market for helicopters over the next 20 years, thanks to a long-term industrial agreement signed on Wednesday with China’s leading aircraft manufacturer, the Wall Street Journal reported. The agreement, signed in Paris on Wednesday during an official visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping, calls for Airbus Helicopters and Avicopter, the rotorcraft division of Aviation Industry Corporation of China, to build 1,000 units of the new helicopter over the next 20 years at their respective plants in Marignane, in southern France, and Harbin in northeastern China’s Heilongjiang province. Airbus already produces a smaller helicopter, the EC120, at the Harbin facility, the report said.
