Regulators to draw up ‘negative list’ for brokerages, paper says

Regulators plan to encourage innovation in the brokerage industry by easing market access restrictions and streamlining approval procedures, the China Securities Journal reported Thursday, citing persons with knowledge of the matter. According to the draft guidelines released recently to solicit market views, a “negative list” will be drawn up so that brokerages can be guided on the business areas where they may operate, the sources were quoted as saying. The guidelines are expected to be unveiled at a national convention of brokerages in May, the report said.
