Total, CNOOC sign natural gas deal, paper says

China National Offshore Oil Corp., the country’s largest offshore oil and gas developer, has signed a deal to double imports of liquefied natural gas from Paris-based oil giant Total, China Daily reported Thursday. Under the deal, Total will supply 1 million metric tons a year of LNG to CNOOC in addition to the 1 million metric tons it supplies annually under an existing contract, the report said. CNOOC is China’s biggest LNG importer, bringing in 13.01 million metric tons last year, or 72 percent of the country’s total imports, the report said.
