Chinalco ordered to suspend Peru copper project, AFP says

Chinalco Mining Corp. International (03668.HK) has been ordered to suspend operations at its Toromocho copper mine project in Peru over environmental issues, Agence France-Presse reported Sunday. Peru’s environmental watchdog gave the order last week, saying the mine had been discharging pollutants to local lakes. Parent Aluminum Corp. of China Ltd. (Chalco) (02600.HK, 601600.CN) declined to comment, the report said.
