First deep water natural gas production starts, WSJ says

China’s first deep water natural gas field has started producing gas, marking a milestone in the country’s efforts to exploit energy reserves deep in the South China Sea and increase use of the cleaner-burning fuel, the Wall Street Journal reported Sunday. Canada-listed Husky Energy Inc. operates and holds a 49 percent stake in the US$6.5 billion Liwan-3 project, which is located in undisputed Chinese waters about 325 kilometers southeast of Hong Kong, the report said.
