China’s steel industry saw its purchasing managers’ index (PMI) rebound for the first time in three months as it reached 44.2 in March, the National Business Daily reported Wednesday, citing data from the China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing. The index has however stayed under the 50 demarcation line for seven months since September last year. Daily crude steel production reached 1.6917 million tons in mid-March, up 1.87 percent from the previous month, while the national daily production was estimated at 2.096 million tons, down 0.04 percent from February, the China Iron & Steel Association said.
