The European Union is planning to simplify visa applications to boost tourist arrivals, Economic Information Daily reported Wednesday, citing European Commissioner for Home Affairs Cecilia Malmstrom. A recent survey has found Europe is losing 6.6 million potential tourists due to its complicated visa procedures. The proposed changes are expected to boost tourist traffic to Europe in the next five years, the report said. Also, the EU will sharpen its focus on economy-related visas to promote development and employment, Malmstrom was quoted as saying.
