Guangdong PMI hits two-year high in March, report says

Guangdong province’s purchasing managers’ index (PMI) surged 4.4 points in March to 51.8, marking a two-year high, despite mounting downward pressure on China’s overall economy, news website yicai.com reported Wednesday. Guangdong’s manufacturing sector has shown steady growth during the first quarter as enterprises were upbeat about the demand prospects, an analyst with the Guangdong Academic Association of Economy was quoted as saying.
