Chinese buyers are expected to get their hands on the first batch of Tesla Motors’ Model S electric vehicles on April 22, China Securities Journal reported Wednesday. Tesla has agreed with State Grid Corp. of China on some of the technical specifications of recharging facilities which are expected to attract 60 billion yuan (US$9.67 billion) of investments in 2014 and 2015. Beijing will build 1,000 public recharging stations in 2014 while Tianjin and Shanghai will have 6,700 and 6,000, respectively, by 2015, the report said. Meanwhile, Tesla chief executive Elon Musk is expected to visit the Shanghai Free Trade Zone to discuss a potential operation by the car maker there, reports said.
