An environmental protection tax is under legislation and is expected to be implemented by 2015, Economic Information Daily reported Thursday. The new measure covers several polluting industries such as steel, cement, flat panel, electrolytic aluminum, coal and chemicals. It could take up to six months for the new law to be passed, Liu Jianwen, director of the Fiscal Law Research Center of Peking University, was quoted as saying. The State Council, China’s cabinet, has reviewed the draft legislation, the report said.
