China’s residential buildings built in the 1980s and 1990s can last 25 years to 30 years, more than four times shorter than those in Britain, New Express Daily reported Monday, citing an official from the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. Those in the United have a lifespan double that in China. By law, China’s residential buildings should be good for 50-100 years but the actual figures are nowhere near that, the report said. Most recently, a 20-year-old building collapsed in Fenghua, Zhejiang province, it said.
