Relations between China and Malaysia won’t be affected by the missing MH370 passenger jet incident, former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said on Monday. He told Xinhua news agency that he believes the Chinese government had been “knowledgeable” about the information of the search and rescue operation, and that “they know that Malaysia is trying its best.”
It is understandable that the relatives of those on board the missing Malaysian plane were very concerned and emotional over the incident, Mahathir said, but added that the relationship between the two governments “will not be affected” by the mishap.
Commenting on Beijing’s role in the search operation, he complimented the Chinese government’s cooperation, noting that China had sent its ships and aircraft for the search mission.
