Chinese President Xi Jinping wants to speed up modernization and regularization in the air force to build a stronger military, China Daily reported Monday.
Xi, who is also chairman of the Central Military Commission, told troops to speed up airspace integration and sharpen their offensive and defensive capabilities.
He stressed the key role of the air force as a strategic military service and ordered the army to strengthen exercises and be prepared for combat and emergencies.
Military leaders should run the armed forces within the law, enforce strict discipline and improve scientific troop management, Xi was quoted as saying.
In addition, he reaffirmed the Communist Party’s absolute leadership over the military.
